About KRV Bridge Connection

Serving the Kern River Valley Community

KRV Bridge Connection (KRVBC) is dedicated to uplifting the Kern River Valley community by bridging the gap between public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Our mission is to provide locally accessible advocates and resources for underserved residents, ensuring that essential services and support are available right here in the valley. Whether it's offering a place for nonprofits to operate or organizing events to address community needs, KRVBC is committed to serving the region in multiple ways.

Our Mission

KRVBC is a grassroots hub of united public, private, and non-profit sectors, bridging our underserved with locally accessible advocates and resources to uplift our community as a whole.

Grassroots Beginnings

KRV Bridge Connection began as a small group of individuals meeting to discuss the unique needs of the Kern River Valley. While many essential resources were available, they were primarily located in Bakersfield, making access difficult for valley residents. Our early discussions focused on how we could bring those resources closer to home, ensuring the community had a local hub for support. What began as small conversations quickly grew, culminating in a vision to provide a permanent space for other nonprofits to offer their services directly to the community.

Over the past two years, KRVBC has steadily evolved from these grassroots efforts into a key community resource. We started by helping nonprofits organize events in the valley, such as addiction recovery sessions, resource fairs, and services for winter needs, provided by organizations like CAPK. Each event brought us closer to our goal of bridging the valley’s underserved population with the help and services they need.

Accomplishments and Recognition

Even before acquiring our building, KRV Bridge Connection has made significant strides in supporting the community. Most recently, we’ve played a crucial role in helping victims of the Borel Fire, collecting donations and distributing food, gift cards, and essentials to those affected.

The KRV Bridge Connection is also working with Hopester on the Neighbor-to-Neighbor Grant. The Neighbor-to-Neighbor Grant provides us with the means to address an often overlooked need — connections. Thoughout 2024 and 2025, we will be hosting events and partnering with organizations to build stronger communities, encourage volunteerism, and create opportunities for resources and outreach.

Looking Ahead

With the recent acquisition of our building—currently undergoing remodeling—KRVBC is poised to expand its impact even further. Once completed, this building will serve as a central hub for nonprofits, providing a permanent space for them to offer services directly to the Kern River Valley community. We are excited to continue growing and serving the valley in meaningful ways.
